Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is about giving people back their freedom and time without having to feel limited or held back by unwanted hair. Whether you want to restore confidence and remove unwanted facial hair, or you’re simply fed up with the routine of shaving, laser hair removal may be the solution you are looking for. Imagine never having to worry about shaving or waxing again. It’s all the reason you need!
How does it work?
During laser treatment, a diode laser beam passes through the skin towards hair follicles. The light penetrates through the skin and selectively targets the melanin in the hair follicles. The penetrating energy then heats up the root of the hair by absorbs the light energy, effectively destroying the hair. which in turn prevents future hair growth. With a built in skin cooling surface the treatment is more comfortable than other lasers.
What to expect during treatment?
Laser treatments are performed by our certified medical estheticians with a cooling handpiece. Before the treatment, the area should be shaved and cleansed. Everyone in the laser room must wear protective eyewear during the procedure. To perform the treatment, the skin is held taunt and the laser will pulse light into the skin. How long your treatment lasts depends on the size of the area being treated. Treating the upper lip takes minutes. If you are having a large area like the back or legs treated, your treatment may last more than an hour.
What about post-treatment care?
Laser hair removal generally does not require any real downtime. Immediately after having laser hair removal, your treated skin will be red and swollen. Despite this, most patients return to their everyday activities. Within 48 hours of treatment do avoid direct sunlight from hitting your treated skin and do not use a tanning bed, sun lamp, or any other laser equipment. Within 24 hours of treatment, avoid applying lotions with fragrances or perfumes to the treatment area including deodorant if underarms were treated. Also avoid exfoliating or scrubbing the treated area as it can irritate your skin.
How do you maintain results?
You will require 6 to 18 sessions to be completely hair free. Once the recommended sessions have been completed, the effects can last for many years, however, so long as we’re alive and healthy some new hairs can grow out. You’ll know they’re new because they tend to be fine in texture. We recommend doing a touch-up treatment once a year.

THE NUMBER OF SESSIONS REQUIRED CAN BE VERY CONFUSING...
It has long been industry standard to advise patients that 6 sessions is sufficient for permanent laser hair removal. The truth is; this only applies to lighter skin types. Based on real results and many years of experience with multiple laser systems including Diode, Nd:YAG, Alexandrite, and IPL we have put together our recommendations to achieve your best results.
